Welcome
Tired of Fibromyalgia Pain?
Living with the pain and accompanying symptoms of Fibromyalgia Syndrome can be extremely difficult if not properly managed. However, there is now hope for anyone suffering from this often debilitating illness. In fact, once thought to be a ‘no cause – no cure’ enigma, greater understanding of the characteristics of FMS means that symptoms can now be largely alleviated with a few simple lifestyle changes and natural, holistic treatments.
What is Fibromyalgia Syndrome?
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles,
tendons and ligaments. It also includes extreme fatigue and multiple specific tenderpoints – places where slight pressure upon them causes pain.
There are numerous accompanying symptoms and/or conditions that are experienced along with the pain and fatigue, making this a complex and multi-faceted disorder.
Symptoms of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) often appear after trauma or illness, but in many cases appear for no apparent reason. More women are affected by it than men and there seems to be a rise in the number of children being diagnosed.
It is estimated that between 3.5 – 5% of the population of the U.S. and UK, and approximately 5% of Canadians have Fibromyalgia.
There is a significant overlap in the symptoms of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, giving rise to the debate as to whether they are two individual conditions, or two faces of the same illness.
